Friends

This is a stupid statement but i'd like some answers if possible! Why is it you make friends

with someone and then never speak? Does that mean you need to delete them?{#}

    It's all part of the Social Networking game Libby. People test the waters, come & go, try things out, etc.  I rarely refuse an invitation, I'll make the first contact, like a Thank-You or something. Afterward I might leave a comment or 2 or even comment on a blog or picture. After I've tried to elicit 'something' out of them, then the ball is in their court.. I realize that people can get busy or distracted or are spread thin with other sites, so I just give people the benefit of the doubt. Even if I've never heard from them after the initial invitation, I never delete anyone. There's no real problem having someone occupying a spot in my Contacts even if they're never there. It doesn't really hurt anything, I'm not being charged for them

        No, why on Earth would it bother me Libby? I look forward to see what you've come up with; knowing that you've spent time searching for just the right quote or statement & that you've designed the Graphic yourselfImage and video hosting by TinyPic

    I never turn anyone down who makes a friend request, but I reserve the right to comment or not comment on things they post.  I don't tend to visit other people's sites very often/ever, so it is up to them if they want to leave comments in my guestbook or not. I am trying to comment on posts in my guestbook and also that is where I tend to post stuff, either there or in the main forum.....or the new recipe section......or in groups i belong to.

    I don't get as much time as I would like to be able to interract with everyone I would like to, I hope the situation will improve when the better weather of summer gets here!

    Personally, I don't have expectations of online friends, or for that matter, most of those I know in person,  but I find that I interact most with people who express their opinions, ideas, information, etc., about political, social, or even personal subjects, or who have something to say about a subject I've brought up, whether they agree with me or not.

    Those who remain quiet don't bother or offend me, though.  After all, freedom of speech includes not saying what you don't want to say.

    I kept track on Multiply and it seemed that if that is a standard indicator really active friends check out the posts that interest them about 3 to 5 days a week (out of my posts anyway). Semi active about once every week or two, occasionally once every month to 6 months, and if they don't show up by then they have an inactive account. Comments average anywhere from one in three to one in 20 views on a post depending on who well written or interesting the subject matter is.

    I wish they would at least show number of views on blog posts here so we could tell if people were looking...

    That is a choice one has to make on their own.  I rarely visit people's profiles pages; here or on other sites such as the one that is expected to close by the end of March..  I will visit their posts such as this note if it is something I have an interest in.  I also don't really care if my friends drop by my profile page and leave a comment in my guestbook or not.  Let me ask this, do you have any friends in real life where you may go for a few weeks or a few months without speaking to them; ringing them up on the phone?  Are you going to delete those real life friends?  I guess it depends on the definition of "friend".  Most of the people in my friends list are more acquaintances; now some of those acquaintances over time have become friends and I interact with them in real life.

    The bottom line is that it is your choice.  If you need all of your contacts to stop by and say hello each day, then by all means delete the ones that don't as that is your prerogative.

    l find it strange when someone asks u to be a friend then never stops by to say hello or leave a comment.

    This has happened to me so many times.  l go to their page and leave comments and graphics time and time again.

    After a while l see no reason for them to be on my friends list and l write and let them know why l am deleting them.

    No point in having someone sitting on ur page doing nothing.
