I need a battery charger

I have looked through dozen of listings and I just don't know.  I need a battery charger because the one I have the transformer went out.  I tried finding a centre tapped 6/12 volt transformer to repair it without luck.  It has to have a six volt output in case I need to charge the tractor battery.  It would be nice to have a 10 to 15 amp output but 6 or 8 amp will do.  I would like a manual charger; these new processor controlled auto sensing charger are known to have issues.  If anyone can help recommend a charger please let me know.  I need a charger to keep the battery for the electric fence in the valley charged so that the deer won't mow the plants to the ground.

I guess the cheapest I can get by with for a decent charger is $32.00 Not exactly the price point I wanted.  That is a manual charger with a transformer.  Transformers are expensive so that is why the move to solid state chargers.

Well then, come on down.  Only thing is, the hunting season is over so you gotta do it on the sly LOL.

Lots of batteries out in the middle of nowhere are charged by solar panels. Not sure how expensive that would be but it seems to be a good solution.

Yes, that would be a solution; they even make fence chargers with the solar charger and battery incorporated.  Problem is, most of them are for cattle.  Deer require a very high output because the hair on their bodies is hollow.

Mmm, a tiny windmill connected to a generator... that might just work.

Or an alternator. Kind of sad though how prices at junkyards have gone through the roof.

You have to excite the field in an alternator.
