No, he was throwing away garbage

No, he was picking up garbage and throwing it away.  The man was homeless but evidently he was also too damn lazy to pick up the garbage strewn around him; empty bottles, paper, plastic bags, etc.  California is going broke just cleaning up the garbage that the homeless are throwing all over the place.  Someone actually got sick of walking by a garbage pile everyday and decided to clean it up and he gets arrested.  California is a joke of a state.

Now the man has a go-fund-me page.  Maybe that is the solution to the thousands upon thousands of homeless people in California, give them all a go-fund-me.

I am not a fan of go-fund-me. There is just too much frivolous and fraudulent claims on there. I remember when people paid their own bills and didn't have their hands out asking for other people to pay for weddings, trips, and medical expenses. I can understand if someone lost their job because of illness, an accident, and are about to lose their homes. But a lot of the pages on there the people actually can pay their bills over time, they just don't want too.

I don't think setting up a go-fund-me page is the way to go. Giving a homeless man money may seem like a great idea. I think a better solution would be to help him get a job and help him to be self sufficient. A lot will argue, he needs money to do those things. True, but what will he use that money for and will it be for life changing measures? There needs to be more than just throwing money to just one individual, it doesn't begin to address the root of the problem, that of being homeless and living on the streets.

You definitely shouldn't contribute to a go-fund-me page unless you know the person involved.  Facebook has donation pages also that work about the same way.  We recently had a case where one of the members of Daggerbay became homeless.  He set up a page and we who knew of his work contributed (not just from Dagger Bay, he also had a following on Deviant Art).  In the meantime, someone else set up a fake account on Facebook and tried to collect funds "for him".  There is an awful lot of scamming involved.

The person in this case had vision problems and was diabetic, and his long term partner kicked him out of the house, I don't know the details, they don't matter.  But people find themselves homeless even though they are productive, it takes less than you think.

I'm not going to comment on the video above since I don't know the background, but there are a lot of reasons people become homeless, and localities do need to address them.  There are also some people that need  to be institutionalized, you can than dear old uncle Ronny for turning them all loose because "communities can handle them better"
