Oxymoron

There is an oxymoron here, can you find it?

ARLINGTON, TN (WMC) - A man accidentally shot and killed his girlfriend in Arlington, according to Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting happened along South Fork Drive on Thursday. SCSO said Brennan Fields, 18, received a gun as a graduation gift. He was playing with the gun when it accidentally fired, striking his 19-year-old girlfriend, Lucinda Luna, in the stomach. Luna went to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Luna's father gave Fields the gun as a gift, according to a close friend. The friend said Fields was experienced with guns, owning several and even going to the gun range frequently. Fields is not expected to face any charges.

I wouldn't call it an oxymoron, but given the facts in the story, I would expect him to at least be charged with involuntary manslaughter, having carelessly handled a gun despite being "experienced", resulting in a death.

I can't imagine the girl's father accepting no charges being expected, even if he previously liked Fields.  It makes me wonder if Field's father is the sheriff.

There has been a lot of people killed because someone was playing with a gun.  I think in this case experience simply mean the young man shot guns a lot.  I am not a gun person but even I know you never play with a gun.
