System Crashed Hard

Just had a system crash; hard.  Failure reading drive on reboot. Took forever to get the system back up. Not good, not good at all.  I don't trust this Seagate drive, they are shit.  Years ago they had firmware issues, claimed fixed, new drives failing with the same old click of death.  Basically seek errors where the drive head crashes repetitively into the drive stops resulting in basically the drive beating the heads to death.

Looks like a new hard drive is in order and I don't have the funds for that.  However, need this computer; it is my business as well as helping out here.  I don't need this now.

I've been through so many computers & systems I think I should have been paid for it. Sorta like a primer on "What Not To Do"!

Hey, I don't mind making the mistakes if someone can learn from themhttp://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/happy/thumbs-up.gif

I know that feeling. My old computer is plugging along and crashes now and then. I hope yours can keep going until you can get that new hard drive.

SSDs are the new solid state hard drives.  No moving parts and they are fast.

I would really like to go to SSD; but the cost for a large drive is not cheap.

Too Sad I HAD ONE THEM OLD EXTERNAL DRIVES..WAS ABOUT TO REINSTALL 98 SE ON OLD GATEWAY..SO I SAVED ALL DOCS,PICTS AND VIDEOS I MADE IN ADOBE PREMIER 2.0..AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW..2  1/2 WEEKS LATER THE SEAGATE HD DRIVE BURNT UP..

THUS MEANING..I NEVER PUT THE STUFF BACK ON THE PC..OHHH I WAS SO MAD..MONTH AND A  HALF OLD GATEWAY TOOK A DUMP THEN LOST THE EXTERNAL..HA..I ABOUT TOOK THE HAMMER TO IT..

WELL PAYING BACK THEN 2,800 FOR A TOP LINE SYSTEM FOR ANOTHER 14 MONTH..I CAN RELATE..NO CLUE WHAT TYPES DRIVES THE LAPTOPS HAVE OR EXTERNAL..

BUT YOUR NOT ONLY ONE THAT HAD ISSUES WITH SEAGATE..AND THEY WERE VERY NOISY AT THAT...

WHATS A DRIVE COST THESE DAYS..
